Camped at Tehachapi Willow Springs Road, a 25 mile waterless stretch began. Although, had more water been needed, there were a few caches along the way that could have been used. The first 8 miles between the road and Highway 58 were so windy you could barely think. Which is probably why it is the home to thousands of wind turbines. After crossing the highway, a dry exposed vertical climb into the mountains began. Here I was able to keep a solid pace as uphill has always been where I feel good and it was over quickly, and the route wound along the foothills for the remainder of the day. This whole section is essentially built of 15-30 mile waterless stretches and the added food of a 5 day resupply with the over 2 pounds per liter contribute to a heavy pack.
