Day 38 – South Lake Tahoe

Waking up with 23 miles to go and no food is a little overwhelming. I made a giant cup of hot coffee to fight off the appetite and hiked as quickly as I could. I saw two people packing up but that was it until Carson Pass. At Carson Pass, the volunteers at the visitors center were my saviors. Without asking they gave me granola bars, a Twinkie and a soda. It would prove to be enough sustenance to complete the final 14 miles through the snow. I got an easy ride into South Lake Tahoe straight to the Post Office to mail back some gear. Then I went to the closest restaurant: Denny’s to enjoy some cheap food. A quick resupply and I ended the day back on the trail with a solid 28 miles hiked.
