Day 69 – Ice Ice baby

Today there was ice. Not just a small section of ice but sheets strewn across the trail that resembled the Arctic. It was like I was hiking through the ice age performing balance defying moves that often resembled clumsy dance moves. Look at the picture below to see the serious trail blocking ice. Both the mountains I went over: Smart mountain and Cube mountain had mile long shoots down the trail on the north (downhill side for me) of them that I would have to navigate. Luckily I had sent my traction gear (Stabilicers) to killington so I had their aid with me and could use them when I needed. I am expecting much more ice in the future days as I enter the White Mountains. I have one more resupply to reluctantly carry a very heavy pack into one of the harshest and most difficult sections of the trail.
