Day 54 – The Windy Road

The wind ripped by my tent all night and cut through my clothes as I packed up and began to hike. So much so that I had to put on my rain jacket to try to ward off the 60 mph gusts. I would later find out there has been a wind advisory in effect. I trudged up and over bear mountain and down to cross the giant Hudson River. This was the height of the wind as well. I had to remove my hat and hold the hand rail with the fear of being swept off the bridge. From here some rocky short up and downs began that zapped my energy. I passed by the Appalachian trail market and had a quick slice of pizza before continuing on towards Clarence Fenhestock state park. I passed the lowest point of the Appalachian Trail today so I guess you could say it’s all uphill from here.
