Favorite meal: Kate’s real food Grizz bar During this final two weeks of my adventure I encourage everyone to donate to fight suicide prevention at: Donate here These storms are crushing me and it has been quite an eventful way to move through southern New Mexico. The morning was clear and I as able to dry my stuff for a short period on top of the solar panel of a solar well and then it was time to move as quickly as possible with more dark clouds looming. It is some strange symmetry to be finishing this trip in inclement weather much like it began. To make matters more interesting today were the curveballs I was thrown. Navigation on this trail is not always easy and most the time at a road intersection, the CDT won’t take the smooth gravel road but will take the abandoned barely visible road. I made multiple wrong turns today which only added to the frustration. Wrong turns build character. Eventually I was able to drop down and cross the Gila River before finally immersing myself in some much needed forests. On a side note they reintroduced wolves to this area so i expect to hear them tonight but would rather not have to fight one. In the forest I was treated to semi clear sky’s and some sunshine. While taking a break and reflecting on life 6 cow elk and 1 bull walked by me. My “No shower New Mexico” must have worked because they didn’t see me or smell me until I got up to leave. My miles per day hasn’t been bad but it also hasn’t been anything to write home about. My feet hurt pretty bad and hopefully just have a couple hundred miles left in them.
