Day 224-Windy

CDT day 52-Miles Hiked today: 33

CDT total distance traveled: 1812

Total trip miles: 6692

Avg temps: 60s

Injuries: hamstring Achilles

Pain: mild windburn

Exhaustion level: moderate

Favorite meal: potatoes with meat I am starting to get a little tired of these frozen mornings. On the bright side, all the mud is so frozen solid I couldn’t get my shoes wet if I tried. As per the usual plan I started my day off with the climb up to Lake Ann Pass and was warmed up by the top. The sharp down hill in to cutting wind had me putting my extras layers right back on. The rest of the morning was filled with beautiful aspen and meadows through the Collegiate wilderness and then I got to Cottonwood pass where there could not have been more tourists taking photos from their cars because the wind was too strong. Here I met a fellow hiker who wanted to hike half a day together. We set our end point for the evening and then took off. The wind was brutal. The views were incredible as the trail stayed over 11k feet but that meant the exposure was extreme so the afternoon wind really took over.
